Gangga — Bali

The concept is rooted in harmonizing functionality with the site’s natural context. The building is positioned on an engineered podium, providing panoramic ocean views and ensuring the privacy of interior zones. The architectural language merges contemporary design with elements of traditional Balinese architecture; the hipped roof serves both as a response to local requirements and as a defining expressive feature. A central roof aperture introduces natural light, generating a sense of openness within the interior.

The architectural character follows the principles of tropical minimalism. Clean lines, reflective glazing, and natural materials evoke a seamless connection with the environment. Facades are finished with light-toned decorative plaster; terraces are clad in locally sourced decking, and the pool is constructed of natural stone. The reflective glazing mirrors the surrounding landscape, visually dissolving the building into its environment.

The first level comprises functional areas, covered parking for cars, scooters, and bicycles, and a gym. The main floor houses a living area, a kitchen, and four bedrooms, accommodating six people. Each bedroom has a separate entrance and a private bathroom. The upper level features a mezzanine with a sitting area and library, overlooking the living room and pool. There is also a staff area with a separate kitchen and bathroom, and next to the pool is a shower room and a small utility room.

The building is constructed on a pile-and-grillage foundation, which compensates for the high groundwater level. The monolithic concrete structure ensures resistance to seismic loads. The hipped roof, covered with local slate, features integrated ventilation and natural lighting. A rainwater collection system is provided under the terraces and directed into a storm drain. The project incorporates air conditioning and ventilation systems, providing a comfortable microclimate in tropical conditions.
